Addiction Treatment Programs in New Jersey - Statistics (2004)
State Population (2004): 8,717,925
According to TEDS, New Jersey had a total of 53,673 admissions to addiction treatment programs and drug rehab programs 2004. The majority of these addiction treatment admissions - over 43% - were for the addiction treatment of heroin addiction. Treatment for drug addiction (only) and treatment of alcoholism combined with a second drug addiction counted for about 27% of the admissions. There were 6,431 admissions to addiction treatment for marijuana abuse as well.
The State of New Jersey is situated between the major industrial markets of New York and Philadelphia and has been referred to as the "crossroads of the east." It is considered a gateway state, with major interstate highways, roadways, international airports/seaports, and other infrastructures capable of accommodating voluminous amounts of passenger and cargo traffic.
Therefore, New Jersey is an ideal strategic corridor as well as a vulnerable corridor for transportation of drug contraband and illicit currency. Over the past year, drug trafficking activity and drug prices in the Newark Division (ND) remained relatively constant. However, a new drug addiction trend has emerged, whereby Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTOs) establish stash houses in suburban communities. According to drug addiction source information, as well as information gathered through traditional investigative techniques, dealers are less willing to travel into New York City because of the possibility of their vehicle being stopped and searched at random police checkpoints on tunnels and bridges. For this reason, DTOs have started renting and/or buying residences in towns where stash houses and even heroin mills would not be suspected.

Drug Rehab Programs in New Jersey
There are a number of drug rehab programs in New Jersey which provide addiction treatment services for adults and adolescents. Drug rehab programs in New Jersey, may or may not include a drug detox or alcohol detox program. It is important to discuss this aspect of a drug rehab program with intake staff, as it can make a tremendous difference in a person’s addiction treatment. Secondly, each drug rehab program and alcohol rehab program might have a different drug rehab philosophy, as each drug rehab might specialize in treating different populations. An example might be a drug rehab that specializes in the gay, lesbian and bisexual population, a drug rehab that has an effective dual diagnosis treatment program or a drug rehab program capable of treating an eating disorder. It can be a challenging experience to try and decide which drug rehab program is best for you.
Recovery Connection® can match your drug rehab needs with a drug rehab program capable of meeting them. Not every drug rehab program in New Jersey is the right one for you. With our vast knowledge of what each drug rehab program in New Jersey can provide, we can make this process much less stressful for you.
Alcohol Rehab Programs in New Jersey
Alcoholism, alcohol dependency and alcohol addiction all fall into the same category. Alcohol is physically addicting and alcoholism can have devastating effects on a person’s family, employment, health, finances and emotional well being. It is quite difficult to recover from the disease of alcoholism on one’s own due to the alcohol withdrawal symptoms one experiences upon discontinuing alcohol use.
There are alcohol rehab programs located throughout New Jersey which differ in alcohol rehab services and the patients the alcohol rehab treats. There are federally funded alcohol rehab programs for those people that are financially challenged, alcohol rehab programs for adults and adolescents and alcohol rehab programs for those persons with private insurance and an ability to pay for alcohol rehab treatment.
For someone not in the alcohol treatment arena, knowing how to differentiate between one alcohol rehab program and another alcohol rehab program can be quite difficult. It is important to find out whether the alcohol rehab program you are looking at has their own alcohol detox program, whether the alcohol rehab has a comprehensive family program and which special addiction treatment needs can the alcohol rehab meet. An example is whether the alcohol rehab in New Jersey can treat someone with a dual diagnosis, an eating disorder or whether the alcohol rehab in New Jersey is gay friendly for the GLBT population.
Allow Recovery Connection® to answers these questions for you as you search for an alcohol rehab program in New Jersey. Let us match your alcohol rehab needs with the alcohol rehab services that are available.
Addiction Treatment Programs in New Jersey
Addiction treatment programs in New Jersey have been around for many years. Unfortunately, not every addiction treatment program in New Jersey is effective or has the actual addiction treatment services you require to achieve long term recovery. There are addiction treatment programs in New Jersey that specialize in treating different populations such as GLBT or professionals, just as there are addiction treatment programs in New Jersey that specifically designed to treat adolescents.
A quality addiction treatment program in New Jersey should have its J.C.A.H.O accreditation and state licensing. From an addiction treatment perspective, having its own detox program, family program and dual diagnosis program is imperative. With that being said, that does not mean that the addiction treatment program can meet your specific needs or is the most effective addiction treatment program for you.
If you require immediate assistance in locating a treatment program specializing in the treatment of alcoholism or to find an alcohol and drug rehab center, call Recovery Connection® now at 1-800-993-3869. GET HELP NOW!
Gay Drug Rehab in New Jersey
While a person who is gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (GLBT) can receive addiction treatment or alcohol treatment in any alcohol rehab program or drug rehab program, not all drug rehab programs or alcohol rehab programs are designed to meet their specific needs. That is to say, that there are not many drug rehab programs or alcohol rehab programs in New Jersey that have addiction treatment staff trained in how to deal with issues such as “coming out”, internalized homophobia, homophobia, gay relationships or any other issues pertinent to the GLBT community. For a gay man or woman in New Jersey, secure in their sexuality, it might not make a difference, but for the vast majority of gay men and women, a gay friendly drug rehab in New Jersey or gay alcohol rehab in New Jersey, might mean the difference between recovery and relapse.
An effective gay drug rehab, gay alcohol rehab or gay friendly drug rehab should have as a minimum, addiction treatment groups specific to the GLBT population, an addiction treatment staff trained in the attitudes and issues surrounding the GLBT population, an addiction treatment staff that has dealt with any homophobic issues they might have and a passion to treat the GLBT community. It is important that any drug rehab or addiction treatment program that claims to treat the GLBT community, provide them with a safe setting in which to deal with issues that concern the heterosexual population.
To locate a gay friendly drug rehab or gay friendly alcohol rehab in New Jersey, you can call Recovery Connection® at 1-800-993-3869.
