Alcohol
Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant that also affects a number of neurotransmitters in the brain interrupting normal brain to body communications. Alcohol is highly addictive and withdrawal symptoms can be dangerous if left unmonitored and untreated.

Opiates
Opiates and opioids are powerful narcotics that alter the regulation of the central nervous system and the gastrointestinal tract. Opiates are used by medical professionals to treat mild to severe pain, cough, and as anesthetics. They are highly addictive and there use is always accompanied by side effects.

Stimulants
Stimulants can increase energy and alertness initially, but as with other drugs, the abuse of these drugs can bring upon unwanted personality changes, psychosis and serious health complications.
