Alcohol Addiction in Colorado

According to the TEDS 2014 survey, Colorado had 1,035 or more individuals per 100,000 admitted to treatment for alcohol abuse as the primary drug of choice.

The Behavioral Health Barometers state survey for 2014 found that in 2013, 353,000 people 12 years of age or older were dependent on or abused alcohol.

268,000 adults 21 or older reported heavy alcohol use in any year between 2009-2013. (BHB)

Colorado Addiction Treatment Statistics

The NSSATS 2010 Colorado state profile found 437 substance abuse treatment facilities with 39,749 individuals enrolled.

There were 229 treatment centers in 2010 with a primary focus of substance abuse treatment with 21,263 people enrolled, 169 centers had a mix of mental health and substance abuse treatment services with 15,567 individuals admitted. (NSSATS)

385 centers had 16,471 people admitted for alcohol and drug abuse problems in 2010. 7,593 people were enrolled in 316 substance abuse treatment facilities for drug abuse problems only with 15,473 persons were enrolled in 365 treatment facilities for alcohol addiction only. (NSSATS)

 

Commonly Abused Drugs in Colorado

 

About 117,000 individuals aged 12 or older were dependent on or abused illicit drugs each year from 2009-2013. (BHB)

On a single day count in 2013, 42,256 people were enrolled in substance abuse treatment. On the same single day count, 39.7% of those enrolled in treatment were there for both alcohol and drug problems. 38.4% were admitted for alcohol abuse only with 21.9% enrolled for drug abuse only. (BHB)
