Willingness is a major factor in recovery from any type of addiction. Many times a person who is alcoholic or drug addicted says “I am willing to get help” and the next thing family, friends and loved ones know is he or she is doing the same thing drinking and drugging.

Saying no to drugs and alcohol how simple that sounds. For many individuals this isn’t difficult to say yet it is impossible to put into action. Children in elementary school are taught to “Just Say No!”

Am I an Alcoholic? This question is a common question that a person who is alcoholic will ask. The answer is if he or she wasn’t alcoholic or exhibiting alcoholic behaviors also known as alcoholism, the question wouldn’t be asked. An individual who drinks normally and has no consequences to the behavior as a result of alcohol just wouldn’t think to ask that question.

Addiction comes in many forms, such as drugs and alcohol, addictions to behaviors, like eating, and more. Individuals turn to things outside of themselves as a way not to think or feel.
