Upon leaving a treatment facility for drug and alcohol addiction I think that is very helpful to attend a halfway house. A halfway house provided me with the slow transition that I needed in order to be successful with recovery on my own. I learned how to keep a daily routine and especially how to have down time without the use of drugs and alcohol.

When paying for treatment it is important to look at the big picture and how much money is going to be saved over the long term. Drugs and alcohol is an addiction that doesn't have an end financially if it is left untreated.

Relapse is not a necessity. No matter what happens in an individuals recovery, my experience is if they continue to go to meetings, talk with their sponsor and work through the twelve steps then they have a good chance of remaining sober. Many people in early recovery have the misconception that relapse is part of getting sober. It does not have to be.
