Wellness and Writing Connections

Posted by: johnwilliams In: Drug Addiction

I found an interesting site today about an organization called Wellness and Writing that promotes a collaborative community exploring the interconnections between the practice of writing and “overall health.”

Their mission statement sums up the concept well:

“Wellness & Writing Connections is dedicated to supporting the vision that writing is a valuable tool for healing and wellness. Our goal is to create a supportive and inviting community to explore the link between health and the written word.”

At this point the site is relatively spartan, at least as far providing online space for the kind of conversations the group hopes to foster, but a new Writing and Writing Facebook group looks like it may become exactly that kind of space:.

It’s interesting that both the therapists I worked with in treatment and my sponsor are both very big on writing – particularly personal, journal-style writing – as a means of healing and awareness. I’m looking forward to learning more about what this group is up to, or maybe more to the point what the community they’re building is talking about, and perhaps pitching in myself.
