Texas Rangers Manager Tests Positive For Cocaine

Posted by: city boy In: Addiction Treatment|Substance Abuse

Ron Washington, the manager of the major league baseball team, The Texas Rangers tested positive for cocaine in July, during the 2009 season.  According to Washington it was the first and only time that he used the potentially deadly drug.  Since that date Ron Washington has been tested on numerous occasions and all of those tests have yielded negative results.

According to the magazine Sports Illustrated, Washington admitted to using cocaine prior to the results of his drug tests coming back.

Ron Washington is known throughout major league baseball as being a stand up guy.  He accredits his failed drug test to poor decision making and even asked Major League Baseball to continue drug testing him on a random basis.

Ron Washington is an example of a good man who made a poor decision.  Not everyone who has done cocaine is like Ron Washington and is able to stop.  Some may become addicted to the dangerous drug almost immediately and may have to lose everything before they decide to get help through addiction treatment.  For Ron Washington it appears to be a mistake that he made one time.  It also appears that he regrets the decision that he made and is very apologetic to his friends, family and all those that he is associated with in Major League Baseball.
