Top Ten Ways To Avoid Alcohol Treatment

Stay SoberWith a new year upon us it is time to make new year resolutions.  For alcoholics these resolutions can be what keeps them out of another stint of alcohol treatment.  Here is a top ten things to do to avoid alcohol rehab:

1. Commit to going to another ninety meetings in ninety days.

2. Re-work the twelve steps with a sponsor.

3. Take up a new commitment at a your home group.

4. Extend yourself to a newcomer.

5. Start working with a new sponsee.

6.  Take some time to reflect of what your life was like during active alcoholism.

7. If possible re-visit your treatment center to say hello to its employees.

8.  Make a gratitude list.

9.  Read “How it Works” out of the big book.

10. Pray

Alcoholism is a disease that should be taken seriously.  In addition if a relapse occurs it can be very costly.  To avoid a relapse and another trip to an alcohol recovery program follow the ten steps listed above.  It is a sure way to keep the alcoholic on track and remembering where they came from before recovery changed their life.
