At the International Film Festival  this weekend Mariah Carey received an award for Breakthrough Artist.  Her acceptance speech indicated that she was celebrating her award before she actually won.  This is not the first public display of Carey having to much alcohol in her system.  Later on in the evening she blamed her behavior on the director of the film that she was in stating he was a “bad influence”.  I’m sure he forced Mariah to drink until intoxicated.

So is this another celebrity headed on a downward spiral? How does the old saying go? “If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck then…” I cant help to remember Mariah Carey taking a leave of absence from her career in the not so distant past.

Alcoholism is a disease that is very tough to overcome.  It is very possible that Mariah had in fact taken time off in the past only to find herself battling her demons again.  It is also possible that she did in fact just have too much to drink on this one night.

Is Eminem telling the truth in his songs lyrics when he accuses Mariah of being an alcoholic? One thing for certain is, time will tell.  The important thing is that if she is suffering from the disease of alcoholism, she admits it and asks for help and gets alcohol treatment before her life becomes unmanageable.
