My Treatment for Addiction

Posted by: jhutt In: Addiction Treatment

Treatment for addiction comes in many shapes and sizes. You have inpatient treatment for addiction, outpatient, private therapy and self help groups. There is no one treatment that is best for everyone so the evaluation becomes a significant part of drug and alcohol treatment.

There are very few people that become dependant on drugs or alcohol that do well in any type of outpatient addiction treatment. The temptations are too great, they require medical detox, structure and comprehensive clinical care. I was one of those people that required inpatient treatment after failing several times in outpatient addiction treatment.

My treatment for addiction was successful as I am clean and sober for several years, but others weren’t so luck. The staff providing me my drug and alcohol treatment made sure I attended outpatient treatment and 12 step meeting after I completed my inpatient treatment for addiction. Thank god for them.

I got clean with a 12 step program. Treatment and rehab is great for getting some time off the streets, but recovery happens when your back in the real world and meetings were my life line. Thanks for sharing
