Inpatient Detox Programs versus Outpatient Detox Programs
Posted by: mharmon In: Detox & Withdrawal
Physicians in states such as Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota are extremely supportive of the new outpatient detox programs which seem to be cropping up. Even though statistics in Iowa, Nebrasks and Minnesota show that outpatient detox programs are not that successful, physicians continue to show their support. Reports seem to lean toward the revenue aspects detox rather than the treatment and recovery aspects of detox programs.
Inpatient detox is so much more effective because of the structure and comprehensiveness of medical care that is provided. Inpatient detox comes with 24 hour nursing and physicnain assistance while an outpatient detox program you can only see a doctor by appointment and you are on your own when you return home every evening.
In addiction to the lack of structure people in outpatient detox are exposed to the same elements as when they were using. In an inpatient detox program, the only people you see are approved by your therapist with your approval. Always look towards inpatient drug detox when looking to discontinue your drug use.
