No one likes to think they live in an area that has become known for drug addiction. Cities and states are riddled with substance abuse and drug addiction. More than ever drug addiction treatment programs are becoming widely known and readily available because drug addiction is at an all time high. The days of keeping our heads in the sand are long gone. Society as a whole has to come together and help one another.
I am sure you know of someone in your circle of family, friends and co-workers who is abusing substances. We live in a community of people who need help with food, shelter, clothing and employment and we help them, however if this same individual is in need of a drug addiction treatment program we turn the other way. It helps to realize that people don’t choose to become a drug addict.
We are in an all time high of people being prescribed pain medication like it is candy. OxyContin is a drug that old and young are finding themselves addicted too. Many people think my doctor prescribed it so it must be okay. If there is a history of substance abuse and addiction that person can’t help getting addicted to any narcotic prescribed or not. A mother of 4 children having a simple surgical procedure and is prescribed OxyContin who takes it for a period of time will become addicted. She didn’t ask for the addiction it happens the human body can withstand only so much.

Drug addiction is messy and it would be nice not to have to be confronted with the problem yet the problem exists whether we talk about it and do something about it anyway.
