Working in a Substance Abuse Rehab Program

Posted by: jhutt In: Drug Addiction

Working in  a substance abuse rehab proram can be very rewarding, but at the same time quite stressfual and frustrating. I have high hopes that every patient I see enter our substance abuse rehab progam will complete rehab and go on to lead productive lives. Unfortunately that is not true, so I have to remember to not get overoly invested with a patient but to provide the best possible treatment for them.

One of the most important aspects of treatment lies in my ability to provide each patient entering the substance abuse rehab program with individualized care. To insure that each patient is not managed the same. This took time to implement but today I feel my patients receive personalized care and appreciate and benefit from it.

One aspect of working in a substance abuse rehab program that I didn’t count on is the papaerwork. I like working with patients, not doing paperwork, but I have come to find that it is as important as the treatment of patients. It alows the substance abuse rehab to get paid and stay in business.
