Why Are Eating Disorders So Common?

Eating Disorders are very common in today’s world, wherever people are living and breathing eating disorders exist. Predominately eating disorders affect women however on the rise are men suffering from eating disorders. Everyone would like to know what causes eating disorders. Unfortunately, there are so many variables that for each person the source will be different. Typically low self-esteem, emotional disorders and depression are the root of the disorder.

It stands to reason that a society focusing on outside things to fill the void are going to see more rise in eating disorders. An individual looking outside of him or her will not be able to see his or her inside beauty. Recognizing early on warning signs of a possible eating disorder will assist in the final outcome. If your child, spouse, friend’s, loved ones and co-workers exhibit some of the following behaviors take action:

Talking about his or her body and how they don’t like it. Noticeable changes in eating patterns counting calories, restricting foods, overeating and so on. He or she has lost or gained weight rapidly. Isolating from friends and family members and retreating into him or her self. Lastly over exercising being compulsive not having balance in any area of daily living.

The above is only a few signs of eating disorders if you know of someone who exhibits any of these behaviors take some action. Suggest they get help many avenues of resources are available today for help.
