I was born in Ohio but really grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. It was in Maryland rather than Ohio that I was introduced to drugs, became addicted and began my search for a drug treatment center. In found a drug treatment center in Maryland, but when I was discharged I went right back to my old friends in the neighborhood, even though the drug treatment center told me no old people , places or things; easier said than done.

After a relapse which lasted several years, it was time to enter a drug treatment center again to clean up. I figured that went wrong was the drug treatment center I went to so I found another drug treatment center in Maryland only to relapse again for the same reason. It was then I realized I had to leave Baltimore for drug treatment if I was ever going to recover; so why not go where it is warm. Off I went to a drug treatment center in Florida and after completing the treatment center I went to a sober living house. That was 10 months ago and all continues to be well.

Today I know it wasn’t the drug treatment center in Florida that made the difference or the drug treatment center in Baltimore, Maryland that failed, it was me and I needed to get away from my using buddies.
