I had tried one diet after another with little or no success. I was like a yo yo, one day up one day down. Then after attending a workshop on compulsive eating I began to view my eating behavior quite differently; as more than just weight loss. Compulsive eating, while fostering an addiction to sugar, was a means to cope with feelings, although an unhealthy choice of coping. After trying to overcome this disorder on my own, I finally checked myself into a residential center for treatment for compulsive eating.
Treatment for compulsive eating was more than I expected. While it provided me with emotional, physical, nutritional and medical care, it also focused on the spiritual aspects of recovery from compulsive eating. I have to admit I resisted them more than I thought I would during my treatment for compulsive eating. It was amazing how controlling I was, but I made it through and would reccomend a residential center for treatment for their compulsive eating.
Today, I enjoy recovery from compuslive eating. I am free and when cravings arise, I have new coping skills with which to deal with them. I no longer turn to food or drugs. You might want to look into The Women’s Center for Healthy Living.
