Cocaine Addiction Effects

Posted by: Dan In: Detox & Withdrawal| Lakeview Health Systems| Steppping Stone Center

Cocaine addiction effects on the body are diverse with the damage being irreversible as the use continues to grow. Just as with any narcotic that is abused the long term effects depend on the amount used and the length of time the drug is used. Those that fall into this category may need a drug detox to curtail their use of cocaine.

Cocaine addiction effects for the occasional user are less sever but are not without physical consequence. Short term use of cocaine causes what may appear as desirable effects such as decreased appetite, mental alertness and increased energy but each attempt to replicate these effects calls for the use of larger amounts. The user falls into the subtle trap of chasing the high and the short term effects morph into long term effects. At this point we can start using the term addict and they should consider a drug rehab center.

Physical and mental consequences of long term effects are severe and devastating to the addict and those around them. The addict becomes noticeably argumentative and irritable resulting in relationship problems. Users begin to hear voices and imagine people are out to get him. The physical complications include cardio leading to heart attacks, seizures, stroke and coma. Helping a cocaine user find a drug rehab can save their life.
