Many individuals suffer from Compulsive Overeating Disorder and they are not aware that help is available. This eating disorder is a learned behavior traced back to early childhood. The individual learned to develop dysfunctional eating habits – possibly from watching a role model or as an instinctive response to a trauma; this eating disorder leads to obesity which causes shame, guilt and embarrassment, which, in turn, continues the cycle of addiction.

tarvation dieting, which has been well known in the modeling world for many years, is gaining popularity in other areas of society. This weight loss strategy is also known as the Anorexic Diet. It is incredible to think that anyone would use starvation which is responsible for 25,000 deaths per day as a diet plan. There is no debating that starvation will lead to weight loss but at what cost? There is no lack of family members of young women that can answer that question.

Meditation is the way an addict/alcoholic reaches the mental state of balance so necessary for a lasting recovery. When meditation is successfully accomplished and the mind is still all resentments and self doubt are extinguished and tranquility is the reward.

National Eating Disorder Awareness Week started February 22nd and goes through February 28, 2009. March 1st sees the opening of the Women’s Center for Healthy Living at Lakeview Health Systems in Jacksonville, Florida.
