Holistic New Year’s Resolution is both encompassing and positive in nature and intent. We enter the New Year full of enthusiasm and positive energy; looking to enhance our lives in the areas of health and prosperity. Holistic, as a buzz word, today is used in reference to wellness of being. Holistic addresses the whole of anything and implies the whole is more than the some of its parts. Accepting this premise would mean that any changes made in any one part of our lives will affect our whole life.
Holistic New Year’s Resolution, to be successful, must address a positive change not a negative one. This means that we don’t quit something we start something. When we attempt to restrict an existing compulsive behavior we often set ourselves up for failure. Thinking about what we want to stop can trigger impulsive thinking leading to the opposite of what we are trying to accomplish. If we add a favorable behavior we can negate the negative one.
People often stop smoking when they start exercising; the two can’t co-exist and the negative behavior is left behind without any thought of loss. The use of illegal drugs affects all areas of ones life. One can’t use addictively and still have time or energy (health) for positive activities in their life. The human body has natural healing abilities. Holistic healing and alternative health care solutions support the body in healing itself. After an addict attends a drug rehab and starts healing they must add positive activities to replace the negative ones.
Our resolutions will have a better chance of success if we add a positive that forces out a negative. This attitude will have a cause and affect not just on our health but on our holistic life.
