"5. Marijuana Destroys the immune system- There is no conclusive evidence that demonstrates harm to the immune system when used in therapeutic doses for humans.”

"what i was told is that smoking marijuana actually forms a mucous in the esophagus which allows bacteria to form more easily causing the person to be more likely to become sick…… i dunno check it out"

actually if you check around you will see that scientists are using THC to kill bacteria.

the reader states it is impossible to overdose on weed. I guess that depends on your definition of overdose. We all know nobody is dying from weed.

<p>I'm going to start this post by saying that I am pretty blazed right now, so I kinda steer off topic, it isn't my fault. My mind is just doing a shitty job of guiding my thought :P</p>
<p>Um... so yeah, I just wanted to say, nice job. I was pleasantly surprised. When I Stumbled Upon this page, a page called the Drug Addiction Blog, I assumed you would be spreading propaganda about weed, you know, debunking the pot-culture's "myths." Nicely done :D I was glad to find out that someone in your position is not blinded by ignorance!</p>
<p>Some people are arguing over number #2 or #4, but just ignore them. It really isn't that big of a deal. I don't really remember what #2 or #4 was, but I am sure it isn't worth the argument.

Hey guys, I don't know why you're trying to correct somebody who's argument and explanation to every comment presented is "it's not." It's like saying:

Myth #1 - The sun is hot. Actually it's not.

How do you argue against that? This dude is high as a mofo. Thank you and good day

To those of you who decide to bash on the writer of this article because he contradicts himself between numbers 2 & 4.

You are twats. He did not contradict himself. Nowhere does it say "Today, marijuana is stronger so patients can smoke less." There are different strains of cannabis varying in potency. This was ALWAYS the case. However, it is true that due to attained knowledge over years and our advancing in botanical research, we are able to alter conditions marijuana is grown under in order to produce hybrids and strains that are in fact more potent than past years.

And to Britt, all forms of smoke inhalation cause this air passage irritation. But marijuana actually dilates the lung capacity, therefore making it easier to take deeper breaths, and hold air for longer.

Hey everyone

1. It doesn't matter how many chemicals, etc., are in it, it matters what's bad for you and how many there are.

2. Standard run of the mill marijuana (wild or "naturally" grown) hasn't gotten any better, but modern advances in botany and cross-breeding have created numerous strains of "super weed" with higher concentrations of THC. Pricey, time-consuming, and tedious, but very much worth it. Science rocks.

4. Just about impossible to overdose on THC. Overdose through smoking can only occur if you can smoke roughly a truckload of marijuana; you pass out way before then. Even with Marinol pills you would lose the ability to swallow any more after the effects of the first few pills took place. Smoking actually helps with dosage issues because Marinol is so strong active users find themselves unable to function(like opium).

5. Marjiuana use doesn't hurt any more than most of the processed food we eat today.

6. Is much less addictive than say cocaine or amphetamines, but it really depends on a person's personality, right?

7. "...on the basis of its particular drug effect." Getting high does not cause people to do other drugs (usually!). It is the social network that involves the buying, selling, and using of marijuana that introduces other "harder" drugs into peoples' lives. It all depends on a person in the end.

9. Marinol is a nice concept, but impractical. Like I said before, it puts people out where you can't function. Smoking it allows you to regulate the dosage in a responsible manner. Why do you think a higher percentage of medical users prefer to smoke it? Some people ask,"Well, what if they don't regulate it in a responsible manner?" That should be their choice, not someone else. It is like telling people where to go to church or how to raise their kids.

10. This one confuses me somewhat. Why is the drinking age set to 21 most places? "Because alcohol is addictive and detrimental to a person with a less-developed mind and maturity." Hmm.... www.norml.org
