Methadone Addiction Treatment and Relapse

Posted by: jhutt In: Drug Addiction

I have been on Methadone for three years and and am finially ready for methadone addiction treatment. I can’t take it anymore. I just want to be free of the methadone but I don’t know how. I went to methadone addiction treatment before and I couldn’t stand the methadone detox. It seemed as if the methadone detox staff wanted me to suffer before I completed the methadone addiction treatment. I was in pain all the time from the methadone withdrawal and sick the rest of the time. A friend of mine who had gotten off methadone told me of a methadone detox and methadone addiction treatment program that had helped him.

This time I asked them about the methadone detox and they assured me that I would not suffer. their methadone detox brought me off the methadone slowly and safely. The methadone addiction treatment was about counseling and helping me develop new coping skills so I wouldn’t start another methadone addiction and treatment all over again.

Well, I didn’t listen and started drinking and before I knew it I had another methadone addiction and alcohol addiction. This time my addiction to methadone was worse than before. This time when I checked into methadone addiction treatment I was ready and willing to give it all up. And I did. I now have 8 months drug and alcohol free. No methadone and no need for it.

I’m not sure what this article means????? I have been on a Methadone Treatment Program for almost 2yrs. and I am beginning the process of coming off of it. What does it mean when the article talks about Methadone Addiction Treatment, Methadone Addiction and Methadone Detox Treatment. Is someone abusing the use of Methadone? Are they then using Methadone as treatment for opiates and then going through a detox for Methadone patients to discontinue treatment? I am totally lost right now !!!! I am looking to talk to other people who either presently on Methadone and coming off of it or current patients already off of it.
