The Drug Detox Program That Saw Me As An Individual

Posted by: jhutt In: Drug Addiction

The drug detox promised me plenty of medication so I wouldn’t feel the pain. It wasn’t true. No matter how much medication they gave me at the detox program, I was still dope sick. The detox program made all these promises to relieve withdrawal symptoms, but I still felt miserable. After I completed the detox program, which I believe was five days, they sent me to an outpatient program and meetings and within four weeks, I was looking for another drug detox program.

Different Types of Detox Programs

This drug detox was much different than the other detox program. They refused to just give me medication when I wanted it, but they did manage my detox symptoms, as well as, the other detox program. Not only that, but at discharge, they encouraged me to transition right to a drug rehab program. The drug detox staff met with me and explained in great detail why I should go on to rehab. They also called my family in, with my consent, and expained why a detox program wasn’t treatment and only managed my medical problems. I went on to rehab and to this day am glad I made the decision. I am equally grateful that the staff at the drug detox program took the time to look at me as an individual.
