My Drug Treatment Center in Florida

I was looking for a drug treatment center in Florida, when my physician informed me that I had HIV and was going to need treatment. As I looked into drug treatment centers, not all of them had the ability to provide the medical treatment I required or had the clinical services to help me deal with the issues surroundng HIV.
After a month I located a Florida drug treatment center caapble of providing me HIV treatment while in the drug treatment center. The Florida drug treatment center, located in jacksonville, Florida had a great medical team, drug detox, drug treatment center and aftercare. Not every drug treatment center I contacted did.

I highly reccomend this drug treatment center, called Lakeview Health Systems. THey provided me great drug treatment, HIV treatment services and oh by the way……They were able to support me in claiming my sexuality and stating I was gay. Little did I know that this drug treatment center also had a gay friendly drug treatment center.

Drug Detox

DRUG DETOX

It is widely accepted by addiction professionals throughout the country that the first phase of recovery from drug addiction or alcoholism is drug detox. Drug detox is an essential element of drug detox treatment as it helps manage medical symptoms associated with drug withdrawal, while assessing and treating any accompanying medical problems. Most drug detox centers will manage drug withdrawal symptoms by designing a drug detox protocol for each patient and dispensing the appropriate drug detox medications to offset withdrawal. Due to the medical issues that can accompany drug withdrawal, not to mention how compromised a person’s health is, a drug detox should have a physician trained in addiction medicine and 24 hour nursing care.

When most people hear the words drug detox, they automatically think of managing drug withdrawal. While this certainly the most important aspect of any drug detox, a service equally important is the drug detox’s ability to evaluate every individual as to their need for ongoing treatment. For this reason a drug detox needs to employ clinicians trained in addiction and mental health problems, in conjunction with medical personnel, to evaluate each patient’s individual needs. If you need help with drug detox, call 1-800-99-DETOX today. Don’t suffer any longer!

Credentials of a First Class Drug Detox
There are many factors to consider when choosing a drug detox such as; ensuring that you are choosing a reputable and effective drug detox program. One way to achieve this goal would be to review the licensure of the drug detox program and the credentials of the drug detox staff.

Drug Detox Licensure – a drug detox program should always be licensed by the state in which they provide drug detox services. In Florida for example, it would be the Department or Children and Family Services. Secondly, and most important, is a drug detox program should be accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospital Organizations (JCAHO). This accreditation insures the drug detox maintains certain standards of care as determined the Joint Commission.

Drug Detox Staff Credentials – The physicians providing the drug detox services should be board certified in their particular discipline and secondly credentialed by A.S.A.M., the American Society of Addiction Medicine. This insures the physician has a thorough understanding regarding the disease of addiction and drug detox protocol. The nursing staff should consist of Registered Nurses (R.N.) and Licensed Practical Nurses (L.P.N.) both trained in the treatment of drug addiction, alcoholism and the dynamics that accompany the person in drug detox. The clinical staff should as a minimum be master’s degreed or be a Certified Addiction Professional (C.A.P.). They should have experience in the treatment of drug, alcoholism and psychiatric disorders and have spent some time working in a drug detox.

Scared of Drug Detox - So Was I

Thinking of going to a drug detox scared the heck out of me. Every time I tried to detox on my own before I got so horribly sick and no matter how many times they told me I wouldn’t get sick like that in drug detox, I didn’t believe them. All I knew if it meant avoiding the shakes, tremors and cravings, I would rather keep using. Trying to detox off of xanax and alcohol dam near killed me.

After ending up in the ER for the third time in as many months, I decided to give a detox program a try. I didn’t know whether to go to an alcohol detox progarm or drug detox program. That is how messed up I was. The ER staff said just get yourself into a medical drug detox. Well, I was sick, but nowhere as sick as I was in the past. the staff in the detox program gave me detox medications to ease the withdrawal symptoms, cared for me and made sure I had as much support as neccessary.

Well I made it through detox alive, thanks to the staff. I feel like a dish rag that a truck has run over , but I am done with drug detox and gald of it. I can think again, feel again and although I still have cravings, they are manageable. Do yourself a favor and check out the Lakeview Health drug detox program or go to a site 99detox.com to locate a quality detox near you.

The First Step in Drug Addiction Treatment Began With Drug Detox

I found out that drug detox was only the first step for drug addiction treatment. Being the addict I am, I wanted to jump right to the end of drug addiction treatment and live happily ever after. But this w3as not to be, the drug addiction treatment program told me I needed to go through drug detox first.

Drug Detoxification in the Drug Detox Program

A day into drug detox I understood why they wanted me here before the drug addiction treatment program. Man did I feel terrible. I didn’t know whether to sweat or shake first. I can’t imagine where I would have been without the medications they gave me in drug detox. After a day or two in the drug detoxification program I began to feel a little better, but I couldn’t focus really well due to the headaches. It is a wonder how anybody could go through drug addiction treatment without drug detoxification. After 5 days I was feeling better physically, but mentally and emotinally I was still a mess. It was as if drug detoxification let all the deamons out, but really it was the first time in years I could feel emotions.

It was clear from the beginning that the drug addiction treatment program was all about learning how to live with feelings and how to keep from using drugs because of them. I had a great therapist who pushed me, even though I was only 6 days out of drug detox. Truthfully, I was still a little shaky and thought of those medications I got in the drug detox program often. Long story short, I am 96 days clean and have no desire to go through drug detoxication or drug addiction treatment ever again.

I found my detox program by calling 1-800-99-DETOX. This drug detox helpline was great.
