Drug Rehab Does Work; If You Want It To!
Drug rehab does work and I am an example of it. Twenty five years ago I went into drug rehab and have never picked up a drink or a drug since. The problem is not with rehab, but with the patient’s willingness to follow the suggestions given by the professionals and be honest. All we hear about are the failures in rehab, never the success’s. While it is true we really can’t believe the success rates the drug rehab posts, the reality is that there are more lives that have been improved by rehab than we ever could imagine.
Why Doesn’t a Rehab Work?
Imagine going to a doctor for treatment of a broken leg. He puts it in a cast and tells you after you are out of the cast you must attend physical therapy three times a week or you will not regain the use of your leg. How may people do you think would say, heck, I don’t need physical therapy, I can do it on my own. We all agree not many. The rest grudgingly go to therapy, do the work and answer the therapist’s questions honestly. Yes, most waver in their at home instructions, but they continue to show up and do the work.
The addict and alcoholic going thru drug rehab, do the exact opposite. They somehow get the idea, that they can continue to recover on their own or do not have to follow suggestions of their addiction professional. You can have the most effective addiction treatment center or drug rehab in the country with the best treatment professionals, but if you have an unwilling or uncommitted patient, all is lost.
Drug Rehab Gets a Bad Rap
Most of the drug rehab in the United states do a fairly good job at providing drug rehab treatment. While some are certainly better than others, most drug rehab treatment providers do an excellent job at teaching patients that they are dealing with a disease of the brain. A disease that adversely effects the quality of one’s thinking. If that is true, it is even more of a reason to listen to those more skilled in the area of addiction treatment. Oh how defiant and rebellious addicts and alcoholics are. Rather than listening to all that is wrong and all the failures related to drug rehab, try listening to the successes. We are out there, thousands upon thousands of us.
Don’t wait any longer to get drug rehab treatment. Do it now. It doesn’t get any better out there. Just look in the mirror. If you need help in locating a drug rehab or addiction treatment you can call the national addiction helpline at 1-800-99-DETOX. They will find you drug rehab help whether you have money or not.
